Our Readiness Unit is for three, four and five year olds. They are learning skills using hands-on manipulatives, art, and other enrichment activities. They are becoming independent learners who explore a variety of activities throughout their day.
Readiness is a half day, every day program run from 8:45am - 11:15am and 12:30 - 3:00pm.
Two full-time master degreed early childhood specialists are our readiness teachers.
Sr. Mary Kent has a masters in Education with a Concentration in Montessori Education. She began teaching in 1966 and came to Lial in 1982. She taught here until 1986, then returned in 2004. Sr. Mary Kentbegan the first Readiness Program in the Toledo Diocese at St. Mary in 1970 and received the Who's Who Among America's Teachers three different years.
Mrs. Noel Rodgers has a BA from Kenyon College and a masters from Columbia University. Noel taught 1st and 3rd grades at Anthony Wayne from 1990 - 1998 and was awarded District Teacher of the Year for the 1997-98 school year. She was a Jennings Scholar in 1997-98 and awarded the Golden Apple Award from the State of Ohio in 1997-98. Since 1994 she has also taught in the education department at the Toledo Zoo.
