Service Projects

"Encouraging students to be of service to others is at the core of what it means to be a Catholic school. Catholic schools are to develop the Christ-like person. In order to grow in the virtue of apostolic service, students need to examine what they do and to reflect on their actions. Helping students to be of service to others is at the heart of what it means to be Christian."

To Serve as Jesus Did: A Catholic Student's Service Journal, Teacher's Guide, NCEA, 1998.

Service projects are part of everyones life at Lial.

The Savio Club sponsors several events each year.  Operation Christmas Child invites every family to prepare a shoe box full of gifts to give to a child in the Third World;  Mission Collections are creative and inviting; an annual Walk-a-thon for a special charity; are just a few events sponsored by our Intermediate.

Middle School students help with the lenten food collection in which the families of Lial sponsor 8-10 families in the city of Toledo.  Missions and buddy projects with the younger students at Lial are other ways the Middle School Students reach out.

Primary and Readiness children willingly participate in the Holy Childhood Association and all the service projects sponsored by the older students.  They love the annual Papua New Guinea Mission Fair in which the school raises money to help the PNG missions.
